About Safari in Iberá National Park

Discover the wonders of sustainable safari in Argentina at the Iberá National Park, established in 2018 to protect wildlife and promote local economies through ecotourism. Covering 700,000 hectares of wetlands, grasslands, and spinal forests, this park is a haven for unique species.

Within this natural sanctuary, home to nearly 30% of Argentina’s recognized flora and fauna, you’ll find 1,250 fish species, 350 bird species, 60 mammal species, 40 amphibian species, and 25 butterfly species. From the red-winged tinamou and capybara to the black caiman and broad-snouted caiman, the park is teeming with diverse wildlife. Notably, threatened species like the maned wolf, swamp deer, double-collared seedeater, and capuchin bird are also part of this conservation success.

Jaguar rewilding And Safari in Argentina

Since 2007, the REWILDING IBERÁ native species reintroduction program has played a pivotal role in reversing the biodiversity crisis in the region, including our traditional Yaguareté (Jaguar).

The Giant Anteater was the first reintroduced species. This started a wider series of rewilding efforts, including the the reintroduction of the majestic jaguar, the largest feline in the Americas. With the Yaguareté Reintroduction Center on the island of San Alonso, efforts focus on breeding and rehabilitating jaguars for successful reintroduction into the wild.

Jaguars play a vital role in the health and integrity of the Iberá ecosystem and have the potential to become a major attraction for tourists visiting Corrientes. Ongoing collaboration between residents, the provincial government, and the REWILDING IBERÁ team targets the reintroduction of species like the red macaw, giant otter, bare-faced curassow (muitú), and the jaguar or yaguareté.

The Iberá Park, with its large protected area and suitable habitat, is primed for success in reintroducing these species, thanks to strong support from the local community.
