Puerto Valle: A Lodge with History

The history behind Puerto Valle

Puerto Valle Hotel has a rich history dating back to the 1868s. It was founded by an Italian immigrant named Giuseppe Belluco, who built a small hotel in Corrientes. Over time, the establishment has grown and evolved, and it has become one of the main tourist destinations in the region.

In the 1950s, the hotel was acquired by the Bauzás, a local family, and turned into a key spot for tourists and fishermen. During that period, the hotel became a meeting place for business travelers and tourists in search of peace and quiet, marking the origin of the current concept behind the hotel.

Unfortunately, in the 1970s the hotel was destroyed by fire, but it was rebuilt, maintaining its original style and characteristics. In the 1990s, it was acquired by an Argentine business group, and through hard work and dedication, it became the luxury lodge it is today, with a strong focus on its sustainable and eco-friendly operation, in harmony with its natural environment.

Why is it called Puerto Valle?

Puerto Valle Hotel was named in honor of Bernardino Valle, an Italian seaman and founder of the town of Ituzaingó, in Corrientes. Valle acquired the plot of land with the vision of creating a trading port designed to help Brazil and Paraguay in the War of Triple Alliance. Although the port was built, it could not be used commercially due to the difficulties arising from the war.

At one point in its long history, the hotel was abandoned, but then it was acquired by different owners and changed hands several times. Currently, the first house of Bernardino Valle is preserved, bearing testament to the historical value of the area.

The house was acquired in 1968 by Bernardino Valle. It was remodeled and now it contains the Casco rooms and Library, where our guests can enjoy the typical decoration and the traditional style of an Argentine estancia, with its high ceilings, adobe walls and beautiful views of the Paraná River.
